Stay connected with the new generation while helping to support them and make them feel valued.
Our association had the idea of bringing together these two worlds, seniors and juniors, by creating a tutoring service. This will enable seniors to pass on their knowledge, maintain it and stay in touch with the younger generation while helping to support them.
This initiative can benefit not only the children, but also the seniors themselves. Helping young people with difficulties at school has significant benefits for older people.
These days, more and more people are encouraged to continue working, even after retirement. While for some it’s a necessity to supplement their income, for others it’s more about sharing and staying active in society. Even if they don’t have the same energy as younger people, that doesn’t stop them from getting involved.
Tutoring allows them not only to pass on their knowledge and keep it up to date, but also to stay in touch with the new generation.
Young people with learning difficulties also benefit from certain advantages. For a start, the older people have a lot more experience and can pass on tips to them. And unlike some young parents, they can be much more patient.
On the other hand, as many parents no longer have enough time to listen to their children, older people are much more available to listen to young people.
The tutoring provided by senior citizens encourages intergenerational communication.
These intergenerational encounters are invaluable, both in terms of sharing knowledge and the affection they give us to “grow up” together.
